Julie Sugar’s essays, articles, poetry, and reviews have appeared in outlets such as the Forward, Lilith Magazine, Kveller, Modern Loss, and Jewish Review of Books. She studied playwriting at Hunter College under playwright Tina Howe, and has an MFA in Creative Writing from Antioch University – Los Angeles, where she focused on creative nonfiction and literary translation.
As a continual traveler navigating physical locations and personal identities, Julie Sugar’s writing creates fellowship with readers who likewise find themselves at the poignant, and sometimes poignantly funny, intersection of belonging and being lost. She is currently working on her first book, a memoir-in-essays.
